28 Oct Welcome to the NEW East + Sunset
Hey Friends! Remember me? I know, it’s been a (really, really) long while.
Let’s catch up! Last September I took a step back from my business to have my daughter. While my new design assistant was super cute and cuddly, she was not however, proficient in Photoshop, ha! Jokes aside, what I thought would be a 3 month maternity leave quickly turned into a year. And while I’m grateful to have had the ability to scale back and focus on my daughter, I’m ready to jump back into business with both feet! Oh, and did I mention we moved 3 times and are now based in Nashville?! Yea, it’s been crazy over here.
I knew almost immediately after having my daughter that I wanted to rebrand my own business. And it’s honestly taken me almost the whole year to wrap my head around the exact brand I wanted to create. When I started my business almost 7 years ago I was in a completely different place in my life and I wanted the new brand to reflect the new me. I’ve grown up (I guess a husband, a daughter, a house and a cat would probably qualify me as “officially adulting”) so you could say I wanted my brand to grow up, too.
So without further ado, welcome to the NEW, sophisticated & modern, East + Sunset.
Serif fonts are making a comeback and I’m here for it. The font I chose was Branch Modern Ligature Serif by Sans & Sons. It provides a light and modern take on the classic serif. I saw this font and immediately went, “yup, that’s it.”
If you know me at all, green is my color. If it’s not black, it’s green. My wardrobe, the accents in my house and now, my brand. It was only fitting to match my brand colors, to the colors that match just about everything else I do in my life and I’ve never felt more at ease with a choice.
And lastly, I want to give a huge shout out to Shannon at Lifestyle by LeBlanc for absolutely crushing my new brand photography! (If you want to know why brand photography is so important, check out my blog post 5 Reasons Why Photography Matters in your Brand). I’m grateful to Shannon for helping this mama outta her sweats and into the future of East + Sunset.
Thank you all for being patient with me as I’m slowly learning how to juggle my favorite roles, a wife, a mom and a designer. I can’t wait for what’s next and hope you’ll continue to stick around for the ride!
